SUSTAINABLE CAMBODIA

Sustainable Cambodia is a nonprofit organization based in Pursat, Cambodia that works alongside rural communities to create long-term, sustainable solutions to poverty through education, clean water, leadership development, environmental initiatives, and family support programs. https://sustainablecambodia.org/
Rather than focusing on short-term aid, Sustainable Cambodia partners directly with local villages and families to help communities build self-sustaining systems that continue growing over time. Their work emphasizes empowerment, education, and community ownership.
The Changrok Village
The Village of Changrok is a small rural farming community located in western Cambodia near the Pursat region. Life in the village moves at a slower pace and centers around family, agriculture, education, and community relationships. Many homes are traditional wooden houses built on stilts to help with flooding and heat, and families often live closely connected across generations. Buddhist traditions and values play an important role in everyday life and local celebrations.
Most families in Changrok rely on farming, small businesses, fishing, or local trade for income. Rice farming is a major part of daily life and culture in the surrounding region. Motorbikes and bicycles are the primary forms of transportation throughout the village.
Community life is deeply relational—neighbors often gather together to cook, celebrate, and support one another.
